Stephanie Goldman

Stephanie Goldman…although having discovered herself (against all chronological and cultural probability) to be a 17th century master draughtsman, Goldman maintains that style whether she is doing figure sketches or dreaming up an unspecified iconography of her own. — Johnathon Saville on the work of Stephanie Goldman

Stephanie Goldman began a private apprenticeship with artist Ken Goldman in 1986. A year later the two married and the apprenticeship ultimately developed into an artistic partnership producing collaborative large-scale mural projects.

Stephanie Goldman received her Master of Arts in 1988. Since then she has lived and traveled extensively in Europe, studying western art, anthroposophic art therapy, and color theory. During her apprentice years Goldman studied with Wolf Kahn, Mary Beth McKenzie, Burt Silverman, John Asaro and other artists. From 1991 to 1993 she created an important body of work inspired by the 17th century Bolognese master, Gian-Francesco Barbieri, called Guercino (1591-1666).

She and her husband, artist Ken Goldman, currently completed a major mural commission for Childeren’s Hospital in San Diego. Stephanie Goldman keeps busy with her own painting, and teaching a portraiture class at the Athenaeum School of the Arts in La Jolla, CA In her role as an active lobbyist for the local art community, Goldman is currently completing her second year as a Trustee of the San Diego Museum of Art and President of the SDMA Artist Guild
